Photo experts: when/where these pics?

Mon Jul 18, 2005 8:12 am

The pictures used on the cover of the "Homerecorded" bootleg LP. I do not have this one, and I've never seen it in person. (I have Lichter's version) What's on the back cover?

When and where are those pictures from, and who are the other people?

Are there better versions of these pics here or somewhere?

Thank you.

I think those are stills for 8mm home movie footage,
circa Thanksgiving/Christmas '56

The pics are from April 1957. Probably on the 15th as they hit the Memphis Press Scimitar on April 16th.

Elvis along with his 19 year old date Martha Lou Pendergrass had paid a visit to composer Charles Underwood at his Holiday Towers apartment. She is not the one in the pic as she wore a light-coloured blouse in the news-paper clipping.

The guy in the short-sleeved shirt in lower pic is Dewey Phillips. Elvis said that he wanted to record Underwood´s "Titles Will Tell" whis had been recorded by SUN artist Barbara Pittman.

That´s about all I know about those pics.
