Hey there! Love this song, and will be performing it ... it's not too hard, but the thing is that the production is kinda lousy, so there might be parts I'm missing. It's not exactly the most popular song, either! So, has any musician out there played around with it? If so, could you share some info? Post here, or feel free to mail me privately @ Ron@RonAlbanese.com

Thanks!

Clambake, are you kidding?

I don't have Clambake, but, would you settle for the lyrics to the "just as good" Do The Vega?

Elvis Presley - Do The Vega Lyrics

(words & music by giant - baum - kaye)
Do the vega take a chance and do the vega
If you dance it youll have fun
The fever gets ya and then Ill bet ya
Youll shake like the sun of a gun

First you make the right connection
Choose the one whose your selection
Though you risk your reputation
Youll increase youre circulation

Do the vega take a chance and do the vega
If you dance it youll have fun
The fever gets ya and then Ill bet ya
Youll shake like the sun of a gun

Roll and keep youre shoulders busy
Like a wheel spin till youre dizzy
Kick your heels when youve a notion
Shake and shimmy thats the motion

Do the vega take a chance and do the vega
If you dance it youll have fun
The fever gets ya and then Ill bet ya
Youll shake like the sun of a gun

Do the vega take a chance and do the vega
If you dance it youll have fun
The fever gets ya and then Ill bet ya
Youll shake like the sun of a gun
Shake like the sun of a gun
Shake like the sun of a gun
Shake like the sun of a gun

TCB TED, it's 'shake like a son of a gun'

Compare to the dreadful Clambake, Do The Vega is a classic.

Hey, everyone!

You can still hate Clambake, or my idea, or diet soda, etc, but here's what's going on!

And, I have the chords, thank you!

And I like "Do The Vega." -- and I'm not alone! Was that song ever filmed? I wonder ...

TO EACH THEIR OWN!

And for now, for what it's worth

Don't do it!

Err....let me guess: you're going to be in a jumpsuit, fake 'burns, high collar and sunglasses? Sigh.

Uh, WRONG! Wow, I thought you typed that while wearing a jumpsuit, fake sideburns, and sunglasses ... While I may too recoil in fear at the thought of mixing eras, and tribute artists, etc. I still support anyone's effort to bring us a little live E -- but yeah, sometimes the thought is better than the actual thing!

Actually, I'm children's entertainer ... I do live shows at festivals, etc. local TV, parties and the like, and we've whippped up "Clambake" for our next big concert on 7/26. I've changed a few lyrics around, but we've kept the basic arrangement (which *ahem* is pretty basic, right?).

We've also toyed with "Your Time Hasn't Come Yet, Baby"!

CLAMBAKE!

Clambake is a fun song and I have a arrangement that I use, I don't know how close it is to the original, but here goes;

A D D Dsus D

Clambake gonna have a clambake

A DD Dsus D
Clambake gonna have a Clambake

D G A
Hey listen world you got to know

I'm cutting loose and lettitn go

Who needs the worry and the strife

E7
life can be a ball and I've just thown away my life.

Dsus is played with the d chord and the Pinky on the e string at g

G g5 g g5
Momma little baby loves clambake clambake
mommas little baby loves clambake too ect.

Like i said this is my arrangemet and is a lot of fun to play. It cam be capoed at the first freat to be played at Bb or at the third to be played at c, but I like it is A.

What do you think?

It's in D. Not 100% sure on all the words, but I just transcribed the chords and I think they are correct.

(D) I awakened this (D7) morning, I was (G) filled with (D)despair

All my dreams turned to (BM) ashes and (EM) gone, oh (A) yeah

As I (D) looked at my (D7) life it was (G) barren and (D) bare

Without love I had (A) nothing at (D) all (G) (D)

Without (A) love I had (D) nothing

Without (G) love I had (E) nothing at (A) all

I have (D) conquered the (D7) world

But (G) what then did I (GM) have

Without (D) love I had (A) nothing at (D) all

Sorry to embed the chords with the text rather than above, but when I did above the formatting messed up and didn't show the correct places for the changes.

Lonnie,

Cool! We're playing "Clambake" in C, F and G, and for that little stress part, I'm doing a one fingered thing where I'm going abck to F ... kinda like this:

(C)Hey listen world(F) you gotta know(C)

I'm pretty sure that the song is in C, but I'm not sure I followed you on the capo stuff!

Rock on!

hey...I love the song Clambake in it's undubbed SOLO form...!!!

Tue Jul 19, 2005 6:30 pm

Tried it in C, I just like the A beter, gives it more kick.... If you cappo it on the third fret(using a cappo) my arrangement can be played in C. I like the D
D Dsus D for the du du du duh du part....

Clambake gonna have a clambake du du duh du....

THanks for WITHOUT LOVE...it is close to what I was playin but in E.....I thought it might be in D, but E sounded a little better to me.

Glad ya like it, Mink. An Elvis impersonator comes "out of the closet" on a messageboard that hates the concept...doing one of his worse celluloid turkeys to boot! That takes the cake!
