There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand

Tell me why, oh why, oh why can’t my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why won’t that sun appear

We’re lost in a cloud
With too much rain
We’re trapped in a world
That’s troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there’s a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there’s a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now

I was just going to post this...it's truly amazing how you can find an Elvis song that truly fits any emotion. How perfect this song is for this time right now...

hey Dic, err, Doc,
since you are our most outspoken Celebrity Penis Authority,
tell us,

is Osama Bin laden as "big" as Milton Berle or "uncut" like Elvis Presley

?

please tell us and contribute something worthwhile to the thread.

It is apparent "99%" is an underestimation on my part.

Everyone settle down and please read these lyrics. The entire civilized world's hearts are with the people of the U.K. This is not the time to have an argument with someone on this board! The times are hard enough.

Naive, Utopian rubbish. Socialist egalitarianism has been tried in many places and for many years.......all with abject failure. Such a philosophy presupposes that ALL will be content to live in equality with their neighbor......another myth. Someone will, as always, rise up to try to gain the rule and use violence and thievery to achieve that end. The experiment invariably ends with the ruling elite oppressing their formerly "equal" neighbors.

The abject ignorance of basic human nature here is apalling.....

An apt description of George Bush JR's administration! Good observation, Scatter.

C'mon, Doc. Whether you like Bush or not, let's not start the political thing all over again. This is a time for all of us to pull together and put our differences aside. At a time like this, our England friends don't need to hear us bashing our President. You'll have a chance to put Hillary in office in three years (Heaven help us.)

I'm glad to hear that our friends across the pond that are members of this board are doing well.

Once again........your grasp of reality remains tenuous at best. Please tell us all again about the secret radio receiver under GW's jacket

I won't read it.

You might as well be telling me, in the 1940s, to read Hitler's "Mein Kamph" to understand why the g*damn nazis are invading Europe and slaughtering Jews.

Either you are against the terrorists or you are not.

Well If you can't see the discinction between Mein Kampf and the holy book of the second largest religion in the World, that has been with us for ages already, then there's no use discussing with you.

By the way I'm against the terrorists, who says I'm not? I do however see a difference between muslims and terrorists but it probably makes your life easier to just believe every muslim is a potential terrorist. Well be afraid of over 1/6 of the world population then.

One other thing, has it ever occured to you that Iraq is now considered ideal combat training for aspiring terrorists? I'm not saying Iraq should not have been invade because it's a complex situation. Just want to point out the real world isn't just as simple as you apparently can comprehend.

An in-depth TV Documentary dealing with the Battle of Valley Forge was on our screens a few nights ago.

George Washington's terrorists were sharpshooting (Sniping) British Redcoats at will.

Funny ol' world huh? Doc.

Scatter -

You are right that there will always be an elite group in any society.

But in my 'perfect' world, that elite would have earned their position.

Not been born to it.

Not elevated to it by the power and influence of their forbears.

I'm not naive enough to believe that we'll ever reach that.

But as a goal, an aspiration, it is a world worth striving for.

Washington's so called terrorists were attacking an army, not innocent people. Big difference there buddy.

So let me get this straight Maurice. You equate the colonial army, fighting against the British army, as terrorists? Well, maybe it's just me, but I don't recall any of the colonials travelling to England and killing innocent civilians - unlike some of your Irish bretheren.
In fact, I'd argue that it was the redcoats who were the ones spreading terror amongst the colonists.

Tue Jul 12, 2005 8:51 pm

Minutemen - in the 1700's and those today -are not terrorists.

Maurice, tsk shame. Equating Washington's troops with terrorism.
