Elvis and James Last.

Fri Jul 01, 2005 7:26 am

Does anybody know if Elvis was aware of the music of German bandleader and composer James last, who composed the songs "Fool" and "When The Snow Is On The Roses". James Last has some wonderful orchestral albums and I was hoping that there is some futher connection between these two great talents. James Last is now in his mid 70s and still touring around the world with his orchestra. He has always included Elvis songs in his concerts as a tribute to him.
I hope someone can shed some light!!.

Wallace -

James Last takes songs and does them in a bland, middle-of-the-road, sing-along style.

Music with the guts taken out.

And very popular with the general audience. James Last outsold Elvis in the seventies, at least in Europe!
It should have been the other way around. 8)

Luuk -

Oh, I don't deny his popularity !

His appeal is to those with little taste for originality in their music.

Re-hashed, regurgitated pap for the undiscerning masses.

I can take it in small doses.

Me too. Half a song at a time and not more than once a year.
