Despite Lee Cotten reporting that the negative had been found some years ago, nothing ever happens.

I think it is safe to assume that this is lost.

That's not to say it won't surface one day !

The last I've heard is from the 1992 edition of "Elvis - His Life from A to Z" and reads in part:

To date, The Pied Piper of Cleveland, Elvis' film debut, remains unreleased, probably because of problems involving the legal ownership of the film. Bill Randle owns a copy of the short and Universal apparently has the 35-millimeter original hidden away in some vault. It is The Pied Piper of Cleveland that Bill Randle referred to in his introduction of Elvis on Stage Show on January 28, 1956.

Has there been any information on the film since then?
