Do we know for sure that it is in stereo?

As opposed to a mono soundboard?

<Do we know for sure that it is in stereo? As opposed to a mono soundboard?

They haven't specifically stated that's it's stereo, but since the shows for On Tour were recorded on multitrack, and appear in true stereo in On Tour and Lost Performances, I can't imagine why it would be released in any other way on the CD. If so, that would be very sad.

Wed May 28, 2003 10:33 pm

It must be issued in stereo.
The video was issued in stereo so why wouldn't the new release?
Anyway, just to be sure I sent an info request to EPE about this issue.
I will post it as soon as I get a reponse.

Wed May 28, 2003 10:43 pm

Thank you.

I had forgotten about the filming.

Looking very much forward to this.

Wed May 28, 2003 10:48 pm

Cool, it will be great to get confirmation.

I understand Kiwi Alan's point of view, because in the past mono soundboard imports have been available from this show, so it was reasonable for him to ask the question. I think the source of the mono soundboards was the guide track on the camera reels for the show. This allows them to sync up the mixed multitrack audio with the camera reels when they make the master print of the movie. I am confident that what we hear on the new box set will kick the butt of any import ever heard from the On Tour shows.

Here's the response I got from the Graceland staff:

Fan sites have published what we interpret as "leaked" or
yet-to-be-finalized information about the track listing. We do not have
any specific content info directly from RCA/BMG yet - just what's in the
article in News on our site. The very moment that they give us updated,
official information to share, we will post it in News issue an
E-newsletter alert via our free E-newsletter
service: http://www.elvis.com/newsletters/
At the moment, we do not have an answer for your question.

Thanks & best,
Graceland Staff

Good to see EPE right up with the play.

Considering the track list etc is out on an official RCA dealer leaflet :!:

For goodness sake advertising starts next week and I would imagine copies have been or underway shipping to RCA wholesalers throughout the world.

Sigh!

Thu May 29, 2003 6:13 am

Please don't buy the new box set from Amazon or Mal-Wart! Please buy it from your local independant record store!

Thu May 29, 2003 8:45 pm

Amazon Germany has the box set announced for 59,99 EUR.

Thu May 29, 2003 11:40 pm

So no discount on Amazon Germany.

In fact $2.00 dearer on current rates.

Yes this box set will be a favourite of mine. :D
I think it's been said that the 50's songs will be binaural. The same as Elvis stereo 57 in the essential series. :D

No, I don't think this set is better than T T & F. Close Up is nothing more than 4 FTD's cobbeled together to make a box set. At least if they sold them separatly I could just buy the stuff I wanted. Now I'll have to shell out big bucks for disc four. Guess I'll wait until the set is discounted heavily.
