Just been listening to Elvis' extended version of 'Blue Suede Shoes' on 'Too Much Monkey Business'.
Was it ever established whether Carl Perkins played guitar on this ?
Joe Tunzi mentions the possibility in his 'Sessions' books, and it sure sounds like Carl's pickin' on there !

I just put it on, and there's a possibilty that this is really Carl Perkins. There's a couple of the Perkins trademarke to be heard.

Well I know almost for sure it was Perkins ... I remember reading an article in '80 or '81 about this subject. If I remeber corectly, Carl said he did some overdubs with Felton Jarvis, but the track[s] where never released at the time ... He said that he and Tony Joe White where present at the overdub session ...

Kylan -
No, it was the overdubbed version I was talking about.
Vinylman -
Yeah, it does sound kinda like Carl !
Memphisflash -
Thanks for that - looks like it is Carl then !
Tony Joe White was supposed to be doing something on Elvis' version of his own song "For 'Ol Times Sake".
Unfortunately this was never issued, & is said to have suffered tape damage.
