Patch It Up.
Johnny B. Goode: rarely ever sang the second verse. Did he only sing the second verse once that we know of?
Hound Dog live from 69 to 77. Rarely sang the “High Class” verse.
Jailhouse Rock, Don’t Be Cruel live 69-77.

Didn't Elvis sing the 2nd verse at his south bend 30th Sept 1974 concert?

Excellent choice, but would the song benefit from an extra verse?Walter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 9:00 amI am going to add Long Legged Girl (With the Short Dress On).
1:29 of mediocrity is more than enough, I think.
Re: Elvis songs that would have benefitted from extra verses
I guess I would add Long Legged Girl (with the short dress on). They could have just added some instrumentals and then just repeated some of the lines again.

I also think that any song where certain verses are missing, they should have been left in the songs, such as He'll Have To Go and Good Time Charlies Got The Blues. I am sure there are probably others. I would have preferred he had not even recorded the songs if certain parts were going to be left out.

Wonder of You, Blue Christmas, When My Blue Moon Turns to Gold Again, I'll Be There also fall into that category.MikeTCB wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 5:14 amI also think that any song where certain verses are missing, they should have been left in the songs, such as He'll Have To Go and Good Time Charlies Got The Blues. I would have liked him to sing "Hey Jude" and "Lady Madonna" as written instead of just selecting bits and repeating them.

Re: Elvis songs that would have benefitted from extra verses
Most of the movie songs could have been treated to more complete songs.. Take the Girl Happy and Kissin' Cousins LP*s. Songs were cut short. Include the original Kid Galahas EP's. I've looped some of them for my own pleasure. The Kissin' Cousins FTD actuallly included some of those edited versions of songs! One Broken Heart For Sale is one of those which would have beeing better including the verse from the movie version!

I'll take love.
I actually wrote an extra verse for it in the same style.

Joined this board exactly 30 years after Elvis show in Phoenix, Arizona to celebrate this wonderful fact.

One Broken Heart For Sale. I’ve heard version with an extra verse that was not included in the single release I don’t know why the longer version wasn’t released as the single.

The Girl I never Loved. Deserved an extra verse in order to make it close to 2.5 minutes !

Re: Elvis songs that would have benefitted from extra verses
I don't think anyone's mentioned This is the Story? That song seems insanely short, especially with regards to how good the performance is. But it's over and done with in two and a half minutes, and that includes the repeated last line and fade out. What's more, even the verse after the first chorus is half the length of the opening verse. At the very least, there could have been a repeat of the chorus the second time before the fade out.
