Burning Love
Promised Land
Way Down
TROUBLE
Always On My Mind - to me his best ballad on of the 70's why oh why wasnt this the A side!

Accused of being "a nerd in his 20s." I wish.
Re: Your top 5 70s Studio songs
My favourites of the 70s, although sometimes preferences change, these are the ones I can always listen to AND look foward to hearing AND am likely to up the volume:
Promised Land
I washed my hands in muddy water
I'll be home on Christmas day/holy leaves and christmas trees/merry christmas baby
For ol' times sake
Good time Charlie's got the blues (unedited)/ talk about the good times

Amazing how it all varies. In fact I like most of the others Songs chosen..too. Please stick to the 70s in general and not by year.

The two that would my make toplist are "I'm leavin'" and "Mary in the morning"...
The other varies from day to day.

Re: Your top 5 70s Studio songs
For me you would have to stretch the top 5 to top 20 minimum as it is as difficult to answer this as it is the same question for the 50's & 60's.Some great songs recorded by an artist that was really so much better than some people give him credit for in the 6 years he recorded during the 1970's.

In no particular order:
Bridge over troubled water
It's your baby, you rock it
Don't think twice, it's all right
Early morning rain
Never been to Spain

rlj4ep wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 10:41 pmA neat topic, Ciscoking. Also, that FTD release is an excellent release!
For today, my list would be (in no special order)...., I assume your not speaking about the album but 1970s recordings in general:

* I Just Can't Help Believin'
------------------------------------
* The Wonder of You

* Talk About the Good Times
* Thinking About You
* Bridge Over Troubled Water (1970 version)
Re: Your top 5 70s Studio songs

Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
To me that version is awful
Anyway I burned a cdr compilation 20 years ago (with artwork and everything) with my favorite tracks from
the 70s and that cd is still a favorite in 2024….. I only wish that it was possible to go beyond 80 minutes
as there were approx 3 songs I really wish I could include.
Nice to see that many likes Its Your Baby You Rock It and the Dylan jam,they didnt make my top 5 but it was a close call.

Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
Something similar happened to mee: in 2002 (during the ELV1S craze), I made a 29 songs CD - my all times Rock'n'roll favorite - spanning most of Elvis' career.LSP-4445 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 11:16 amTo me that version is awful
