Oh, should he have waited until a total of 50 people dropped their favorites?
I appreciate the tallying done by Tygrrius, and it's more interesting than random postings of YouTube video links.
This isn't a Taylor Swift discussion forum but one for a singer dead nearly fifty years. The relevance of this particular discussion is equal to any of the scores of similar topics posted here in the past two decades.
Which is to say, only relevant to this membership.

It seems odd you're suddenly finding the discussion worthy, whereas on the first page all you could manage was a joke list - as many of us could have predicted, as you were producing similar "joke" posts on similar discussions for the last twenty years.drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:41 pmWalter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 3:10 amReally interesting analysis on the one level, but it would have been better to wait until a topic has ran out of gas. its been quite a week for the good doctor. First he ignores emjels OP over on the Semon topic claiming it was a"credible source" , now he ignores my "Really interesting analysis on the one level" comment!drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 8:41 pmWalter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 3:10 amReally interesting analysis on the one level, but it would have been better to wait until a topic has ran out of gas. Great list! Mostly, though, I wanted to say, I'm glad you referenced the song that is your screen name. Otherwise, I would've had to ask.wecanmakethemorning wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:48 amHow The Web Was Woven

Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
An interesting list...., I can honestly say that on any given day any or all of those 5 songs would be in my Top 10 Elvis songs of the 1970's. IMHO, "We Can Make the Morning" is an underappreciated gem..., it's too bad we don't have any other takes of this one.wecanmakethemorning wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 12:48 amHow The Web Was Woven

Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
Yes but the undubbed mix that we got on the Back In Nashville box set was really good IMO….and in great sound quality.rlj4ep wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 5:37 amAn interesting list...., I can honestly say that on any given day any or all of those 5 songs would be in my Top 10 Elvis songs of the 1970's. Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
As Ciscoking said, it's one's own list. Long live variety and whatever soothes or pleases the individual's mind. Mine, at this moment, changed from yesterday and keeping my listening pleasure ever-young:
Snowbird
How the Web Was Woven
Talk About the Good Times
The Last Farewell
Love Coming Down
The pleasures felt will ebb and flow repeatedly!

plus two honorable mentions, if i mayWalter Hale 4 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 3:13 amAs for me,
Bridge Over Troubled Water
Early Morning Rain
Tomorrow Never Comes
I'm Leavin'
Merry Christmas Baby (as in the long eight-minute version)
Burning Love
Promised Land
T-R-O-U-B-L-E
I Can Help
Moody Blue
.Always on my Mind (because Elvis was more of the King of the Balladeers, let's be honest)
.I've Got Confidence (because Gospel music, we know, was very important to Elvis and here he and the imperials sounded very inspiring)

Re: Your top 5 70s Studio songs
Pretty hard to top that list of pure gold, but these are fine alternatives:drjohncarpenter wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 1:30 amHow about one from each studio year?
Off the top of my head today:
1970
Life
1971
Miracle of the Rosary
1972
Fool
1973
My Boy
1975
Woman Without Love
1976
I'll Never Fall in Love Again
Tomorrow might be different. It's a mood thing.
This Is Our Dance (1970)
Padre (1971)
Where Do I Go From Here (1972)
Love Song of The Year (1973)
Susan When She Tried (1975)
He’ll Have To Go (1976)

You are allowed to add 4 more..but not by year.
Just pick whatever you like. I really dig

Have To Go...nice picks..thank you...mate.
Also John is invited to add to a few more.
John...your picks look unusual ..glad you love
these underrated gems anyway..great Johnny.

Re: Your top ten 70s studio songs
It's a shame they didn't work on it for longer. I think it's a decent song - certainly as good as something like It's Only Love - but the version we have is, to say the least, rather ragged, especially in the background vocals.rlj4ep wrote: ↑Thu Apr 25, 2024 5:37 amAn interesting list...., I can honestly say that on any given day any or all of those 5 songs would be in my Top 10 Elvis songs of the 1970's. Burning Love
Promised Land
Way Down
Moody Blue
Always on My Mind
Stranger in My Own Home Town (1970)
I'm Leavin
Lovin Arms
Good Time Charlie Got the Blues
I Really Don't Want to Know
Merry Xmas Baby
Don't Think Twice It's All Right/I Shall be Released
Stranger in the Crowd
She Thinks I still Care (bluesy version)
I think the allowed picks are up to 14 now? This would be my list today but it could be different tomorrow. Yes' I sneaked in an extra in terms of a an informal in studio Dylan Medley! Cisco apologies for my joke list, hopefully not one that contributed to derailing the thread as it was meant tongue and cheek. These threads/topics are always of interest as it just illustrates how diverse our preferences are, yet there are a handful that the majority can not but like and have on their favourites list.
