Re: Upcoming FTD Release
OK I won't tell you... pretend you didn't see this...
The sad thing is the sound quality of that show is probably the single best sounding show from 1976... but unfortunately you have to listen to it...

Another disappointing announcement…. Seems like FTD is really starting to lose the plot….

Hampton the day prior (July 31st) would have made a bit more sense here.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
if charleston is the evening show, then 1 soundboard out of 3 has never been released on bootleg before (springfield).
if charleston is the afternoon show, then it will be 2 out of 3.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
Heaven help us. Why??? Surely people are starting to agree with me that there has to be change at the top? This type of release, with such a poor show, is insanity. Who can, or would want to, defend such a release? It's not like the period hasn't been covered already.
The best we can hope for is that runs much too fast, so it's over quicker

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
THIS actually makes a modicum of sense. The blue version sold out quickly and it's easily the best FTD vinyl we've had in many years.Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 12:43 amAlso due is a black vinyl edition of the 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard' LP on black vinyl.

Gonna skip this one. That August 1st, 1976 is a deal breaker.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
Uh, no. Surely, this isn't what was chosen as the next FTD. The only thing that could have made this worse was the infamous Houston show. Can't imagine wanting to add these shows to your collection unless you are a completest or .. or... yea, that about sums it up.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
Oh dear.... only really the Springfield show on 29th is a decent show, the rest are sub par shows.
I suppose the fact it's the Charleston afternoon show does mean 2 out of the 3 shows are new on Soundboard, but I agree Hampton Roads from 31st July would have been a more pleasant choice.Still at least it's not the last 3 shows from this tour- which is one small mercy!

More crappy soundboards from 1976! And still no announcement on the Blue Hawaii sessions. Promises made, promises kept, unless it is the FTD label.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
FTD is doing exactly what it set out to do, offering fans the shows it has in its archives.
FTD doesn't have any shows from 1970, 1971, 1972 or 1973... so all that's left is for them to release shows from 1974 onwards.
I personally would prefer FTD to release shows from '75 before revisiting 1976. IMO.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
Choice of tour - ok, because its long overdue
Choice of shows, hmmm well, the comments say it all. Why the August 1 show was chosen, instead of the previous night beggars belief. I mean, do we really need the latter show released for a 4th time? Springfield seems acceptable, but I sure hope the Charleston afternoon gig is better than the evening. The only thing FTD has got right is the cover and the title. Sorry Ciscoking, bit of a bummer this one.

I don't think FTD ever said it was going to release all shows in its archive, no matter what the quality.dougkapp wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 1:59 amFTD is doing exactly what it set out to do, offering fans the shows it has in its archives.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
Considering there is some demand for more soundboards it was only inevitable that they would start doing exactly that.pmp wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 2:42 amI don't think FTD ever said it was going to release all shows in its archive, no matter what the quality.dougkapp wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 1:59 amFTD is doing exactly what it set out to do, offering fans the shows it has in its archives.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
One interesting thing that happened during the Charleston show is the sound system goes out in the middle of "Can't Help Falling In Love". Elvis talks about it during the evening show.

Re: Upcoming FTD Release "Summer Of '76"
I can't keep pace with FTD anymore.I rarely play the soundboards I have .This plus the 1972 book would be nearly $500 Canadian.Gonna start doing without.
