Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
With the help of good promotion than I would be happy to see this in the top 40 album charts.
Elvis shares with 58 albums that went in to the top 40 together with Frank Sinatra to having the most top 40 albums in the Billboard album charts.

Very cool, if it's something like the TTWII 10 disc set a few years back, I've got my credtic card ready!

Great news! If it is released by Sony Legacy it will be cheaper than FTD.

That's good news. I wonder if David E's book is still a go for FTD... if it is, hopefully content won't be split up over the two releases...Johnny2523 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 1:00 amIt appears Elvis On Tour will be released on the legacy label with the announcement of Ernst being at Elvis week to present the new boxset

I can't imagine Sony to release the rehearsals in their entirety. That'll be FTD exclusive. Just a guess though.elvis-fan wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 3:46 amThat's good news. Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
So I think it will be like the FTD TTWII 50th with the rehearsals, and SONY LEGACY released the 6 concerts. I bet they do the same with ON TOUR. FTD will do rehearsals and book.
Either way great news.

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
This is great news indeed! Rehearsals will be great to have as well if they are included. As I've said before, I am not getting any younger so this will be a pleasure to finally have and listen to.
Does anyone know if there are plans for any video releases from this project?

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
I think we all would be shocked if there was any type video release. It’s just not going to happen. Only hope is Baz in a year or two. I’m excited about this release but if I had to bet the “unreleased” part will be the rehearsals that we already have but just not from RCA. On top of that FTD has already released the best on the EOT rehearsals cd.rlj4ep wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 7:00 amThis is great news indeed! Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
Thanks Steve..., I mention the rehearsals because for example, I have not heard the ones from Buffalo. Any additional material from the March 30, 31, sessions would be great as well.steve in sc3 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 7:34 amI think we all would be shocked if there was any type video release. Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
Looking forward to this. hope they get the mixing right. Don’t like it when they mix the back ground vocals way too far to the background. Want to hear the full wall of sound that he had on stage

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
Hopefully we learn;
-Was Never been to Spain recorded in Hampton Roads?
-Will Lawdy MC from Richmond be incomplete again due to a recording error?
-Will we get the few Hampton AS tracks rumoured to be test recorded?
-Did any tracks survive from the failed Knoxville recording?
-Did Sony get access to the MGM 16 track tapes or did they mix from the 8 track copy tapes in their possession?
-Will any soundboard material be included?
Looking forward…

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
As this is a mainstream release, I doubt Sony would add any soundboards to it - whatever ones they have, they are likely to come with the FTD Book/CD set.Robert wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 12:41 pmHopefully we learn;

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
Whatever comes out, even if it is a 4/5 CD set, I cannot see it doing much better than the two recent Nashville sets which never charted in the US. The movie may add a bit of extra interest, but I would be surprised if the set gets into the top half of the Billboard 200. And those two previous sets just sneaked into the Top 75 charts in the U.K. and I cannot see much better there either. If Sony put out 4 shows, there is too much repetition for the public to buy into in a big way and Sony will not be able to promote it as a "historical" set like they did with Vegas ‘69.TheKingOfMusicEP wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 1:19 amWith the help of good promotion than I would be happy to see this in the top 40 album charts.

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
I think it will be like TTWII Legacy boxset.
5CDs plus DVD/Blu-Ray
1. Hampton Roads
2 Richmond
3. Greensboro
4. San Antonio
5. Selections from rehearsals
6. DVD/Blu-ray of the original film

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
Elvis streaming figures are up significantly.
Monthly spotify listeners jumped with nearly 4 million.
Elvis usually only peaked in December and always fell back to appr 12/13M. Now at 16.3M
I can imagine a Legacy release ranks higher in priority these days. And the best of the rest sits nicely at FTD.

Whatever the sales or chart positions, Sony is quite pleased with the results of Elvis. That’s why I guess we still get mainstream releases.emjel wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 2:16 pmWhatever comes out, even if it is a 4/5 CD set, I cannot see it doing much better than the two recent Nashville sets which never charted in the US. This is an excerpt of an article dated 25 June 2022. Title: The Elvis business is booming into the billions.
Source: Billboard.com
Aside from Graceland, the bulk of the Presley estate’s value is in the 650 compositions for which it owns co-publishing rights. Billboard estimates Presley’s catalog generated publishing royalties that averaged $12 million annually over the last three years; of that, Authentic Brands took about $4.5 million. The estate, however, doesn’t profit as much from other valuable Presley holdings – in 1973, Parker made a deal to sell all of Presley’s master recordings to RCA Records for $5.4 million, which means the label pays no royalties to the estate for tracks released before 1973. Nowadays, the Sony Music-owned RCA Records has earned an average $23.5 million in annual revenue over the past three years, according to Billboard estimates. “He consistently is one of our top 10 artists,” says Lyn Koppe, executive vp of global catalog for Sony Music Entertainment and Legacy Recordings. “You’ve got the traditional Elvis fans who know everything about him, and you’ve got other fans who might listen to ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ because a different artist might have covered it and they discovered Elvis’ original.”

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
The followers have not increased by a similar ratio, moving from 6.36 million a few months before the movie started getting high promotion and subsequent release, to around 6.8 million now and it is the followers that you really want a big increase in, as an increase in the monthly listeners is almost a knee jerk reaction from the movie, just like lots of people listen to Elvis’ music at Christmas, and then it all falls back. Elvis 30 #1s is still the highest album getting streamed and as reflected in the album charts with Blue Hawaii the highest non comp album being streamed followed by Christmas and FEIM.Robert wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 2:51 pmElvis streaming figures are up significantly.

The Legacy priority is basically brought about to maintain copyright protection for Sony otherwise after 2022, all of the material can fall into the Public Domain. There might be a small increase in buyers for the Elvis on Tour set, following the interest in the movie, but I doubt there will be anything much more that the previous three box set releases, all of which failed to capture the public’s interest in any meaningful way.

Re: Elvis On Tour - Legacy Edition?
"CD box set" sounds like more than two cds. This gives me hope that all four shows will be included.
