Second highest seller today, of Elvis related articles, was this leather jacket. which went for US$43.000 including fees, or only US$1,000 LESS than the one he wore in Roustabout.

I had missed this fantastic quote about Elvis in connexion with Andy Warhol. And I quote "The late writer Norman Mailer, used to tell me that, in history, only a few names get known. So, you know, Andy Warhol would paint Mao Tse Tung or Elvis.
Unquote

We have just gotten the results of the auction sale of Elvis' 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham, the one he gifted to Dr. Nick. It went for 77,000 Euros or US$88,000

https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1975-cadillac-fleetwood-brougham-ex-elvis-presley-nk7DNn

There are very few photos of Elvis driving iot, but here is one that's readily available.

Elvis is mentioned on this new barn find.

This is a 1959 BMW 507 model
https://journal.classiccars.com/2022/02/07/preserved-garage-find-bmw-507-set-for-gooding-auction-in-florida/

which resembles Elvis 1957 BMW 507, when it was black, as it remained for a full year while in the ownership of DJ Tommy Charles, yes, the famous one. He wasnt sure it belonged to Elvis. Here is what could have been Elvis car, in 1962, in the cover of Road and Track.

https://scontent.fmga3-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/130575840_4844048222303085_7294698909626100394_n.jpg?_nc_cat=107&ccb=1-5&_nc_sid=dbeb18&_nc_ohc=F-mILl0EbyUAX860d1m&_nc_ht=scontent.fmga3-2.fna&oh=00_AT-NJESI238kCF3wY2ZfNuu_fk1yOnCsC7OXtq2ikh42Lw&oe=622B8A4A

And here is a 1970's newspaper clip from the Birmingham Post Herald which finally points to Charles' not knowing for sure whether the car had belonged to Elvis or not. By that time, the car had again disappeared.

This beautiful 1958 BMW 507 is hitting the auction market this coming 14 May. Notice that almost invariably Elvis' name comes up, embellishing this Sotheby's sale so to speak. LOL. Expected to sell for US$2,6m, the reference to Ursula Andress having one of her own happens to coincide with the fact her unit, a 1958 model and also sold by Sotheby's in 2011 for US$1.01m, was a gift from............. Elvis. This car has a further advantage, it is one of only 9 out of 252 with both the hard and soft tops. Like Elvis', and unlike Ursula's, which only had the soft one.

I just attended a super car online Sothebys auction from Monte Carlo. They made a reference to Elvis owning a 1957 BMW 507, as a sinilar 507, but from 1958, was being auctioned. The papers also noted it.

Anyways, It went for US$2,280,000, with fees.

It becomes the 12th BMW 507 selling ABOVE US$2,000,000 and the sixth referenced by the auctioneers as being the same model as the one owned by Elvis.

Here are the eighteen BMW 507 sold at auction since 2013 and which went for over a US$1m. They include those owned by the King of Greece and the unit belonging to Formula 1 and Byke racing world champion John Surtees which sold for US$5 million. They are set up already from the highest to the lowest.

A single Elvis by Warhol just sold at Sotheby's for US21,580,000 the third highest sale of the evening after a Francis Bacon and a Cy Tombley went for 46m and 38m, respectively. It is the highest ever paid for a single Elvis, breaking the earlier record (for a single Elvis) of US$3.5 million by a little over six times.

Fresh news from the UK!!!! Last night, in a auction organized by Henry Aldridge and Son, at Devizes, Wiltshire ( a place I visited once during my post graduate degree studies at Oxford), a 1955 Lord Elgin wrist watch which Elvis used throughout 1956 sold for a mighty £240,000, or almost US$300,000.

This elevates the above mentioned wrist watch to the top five prices ever paid for an Elvis watch, and the first from that now defunct watch maker.

The top five which sold above the US$50,000 mark are as follows

1) 1960 Omega by Tiffany's 18 kt white gold, black suede strap.....US$1.812,000
2) 1959 Hamilton Ventura , 14 kt yellow gold filled...................US$1.000,000
3) 1962 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner in stainless steel........US$ 567,000
4) 1955 Lord Elgin, 14 kt yellow gold filled........................ ......US$ 298,000
5) 1958 Omega Constellation 18 kt pink gold, black leather strap.. US$ 53,000
