External Hard Drive Issue Regarding Permission - Help?

#1544753

Post by Tony Trout »

Over the weekend, I bought a new 4TB external hard drive just to use for my music - I transferred all of my Elvis music to the new drive. However, I'm having a little issue with the drive: When I try to make a new folder for another CD, or if I attempt to delete one that I don't need, it tells me that I need permission. However, I have to go through the routine of telling the drive to let me have permission everytime I try deleting or re-naming a folder.

What could be going on here? Is there a way to properly fix this issue so that I don't have to keep trying to regain control of the new drive?

Tony you will need to follow the steps that I have highlighted in yellow to add the permissions to your drive in the attachments below.

Right click on your drive and choose "properties" in the "security" tab click "advanced"

Click on "change permissions"

Choose "allow" to create folders by clicking on that line.

reboot your system then retry your TB drive.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
