Due for
release on the Follow That Dream label on April 1, 2007 is the CD "An
American Trilogy" with Las Vegas Concert Recordings from the January/February
1972 Engagement.
This quarter's regular 5” digipack release covers Elvis’ engagement
at The Las Vegas Hilton in January-February, 1972. RCA did not record entire
shows, and several of the new songs Elvis had added to his shows were only
recorded once. The consequence is that the main body of the CD – the RCA
recordings – feature several previously released versions. Soundboard (informal)
recordings of other song performances during the engagement were added to the
end of the disc in order to make this as representative as possible of Elvis’
repertoire at that time.

Unchained Melody is a soundboard recording from an Elvis concert in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 20, 1977. Bonus songs from other concerts on the same tour are included. January 1, 2007 FTD release.
Track List ( Charlotte Concert ):
Love Me ; Fairytale ; You Gave Me A Mountain ; Jailhouse Rock ; O Sole Mio /
It’s Now Or Never ; Little Sister ; Teddy Bear / Don’t Be Cruel ; My Way ;
Moody Blue –intro only ; How Great Thou Art ; Hurt ; Hound Dog ; Unchained
Melody ; Can’t Help Falling In Love

The FTD label will release two CD's in January 2006. An upgraded version of '' Loving You '' ( 2 CD set ) and a the regular Follow That Dream release is called SOUTHERN NIGHTS and is a compiled “ best of ” from the spring tours of 1975. This is a companion set to Dixieland Rocks. This is yet another of the so-called “Soundboard” recordings, meaning those done at shows with semiprofessional equipment. There are several flaws on the original source tapes. Southern Nights shows just how vast Elvis’s repertoire was at that time, with 19 songs not featured on Dixieland Rocks.
Track List:
THAT’S ALL RIGHT 2:24 ; IT’S NOW OR NEVER 2:41 ; HELP ME 2:40 ; STEAMROLLER
BLUES 3:28 ; HEARTBREAK HOTEL 2:14 ; RELEASE ME 2:25 ; POLK SALAD ANNIE 4:12 ;
I’LL REMEMBER YOU 2:36 ; LITTLE DARLIN’ 2:57 ; BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER

THROUGH THE NIGHT 1:55 ; FAIRYTALE 3:03 ; JAMBALAYA 0:36 ; BIG BOSS MAN 2:50
; IT’S MIDNIGHT 3:05 ; PROMISED LAND 2:47 ; TROUBLE 1:05 ; T-R-O-U-B-L-E

3:18 ; I CAN’T STOP LOVING YOU 2:24 ; I’M LEAVIN’ 3:29
This is a 2-disc upgraded version, carefully restored by
Kevan Budd. This is a variation of the BMG release from earlier in the year. We
have been able to obtain a handful of movie versions from a brilliant tape
source, and on Disc 2 you get the opportunity to hear all takes of Elvis
recording the title song Loving You on February 14, 1957. You will get 15 takes
of the main version in binaural as an extra bonus.

Note from Ernst & Roger :
2006 will be the last year where we will divide evenly between regular
releases of “soundboard” material and RCA material. We will be running out
of studio outtakes, except for the Classic Albums releases. Research is always
going on, but hope of finding the missing studio tapes is small. We have a lot
of historical Las Vegas engagements and tours to cover through soundboards, and
obviously an enormous number of classic albums to restore.
Thanks for another great year. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year.

The news on the EU Sun Box ( see previous news below ) mentioned that the FTD project would concentrate mainly on the year 1955. Therefore we ask Mr. Jrgensen if it was indeed the case and if was aware of this project. It seems the fans will benefit from both projects. Here's the answer we've got from him with permission to publish it.
'' I have known for quite some time that Joseph is working on a SUN project, and we have had conversations about it, but apart from his stamper single I have no idea what his materials are. The "news" on the board reveals nothing, but obviously sounds exciting. I'm not an expert on the legal issues, but I assume that Joseph has done his home work. Although I am producing a project on the same subject (Elvis in 1953-55), I'm just as much of a fan as the rest of you, and welcome any unpublished material. I see that Joseph has a list of great people helping - several of these people are also helping me, and one of the greatest things for me in this project is that so many people have decided to share their knowledge and materials - it seems that everybody realises that it's time to forget about personal agendas, and help create the historical document about these early times - we will all benefit from this. ''

Yesterday on our Forum there was a news concerning two box-sets on the Sun era that would be released on a new label called '' Memphis Recording Services. You'll find here below the details concerning these sets. This news doesn't really belong into the BMG News section but it was better to include it in here because of the comments in the next news above.
To my understanding there will be 2 box sets that will cover
the entire Sun era. The first volume to be released in June 2005 will deal only
in the years 1953 - 1954. It will include what Mr Joseph Pirzada calls a 'super
CD' with all tracks remastered in original Sun sound and will include a
unreleased track from 1954 as well as live recordings. He promises a sound never
heard before that even FTD will not afford to package. Joseph has said 'our
recording sources are much better than BMG can ever get'
With the package to my understanding, will also be a 7 inch vinyl record of '
Thats all Right ' pressed from the original Master Mother stamper which will be
identical to the original 45rpm released by Sam Phillips in 1954 with all the
hallmarks and obviously the exact sound.
Included is a 200 page book containing unpublised photographs including colour
with documents never before seen during the 53- 54 which will include the 'most
important document ever from 1954' (I am not allowed to say what that is at this
stage) that has never before seen. All items will packaged together within the
Box set.
It is also understood that major contributions to this package include Scotty
Moore, Ed Leek, John Heath, Joseph Tunzi, Stanley Oberst, Sheriff Hanna, Russ
Howe, Bud Glass are just the few that are involved in this project. The book
itself is written by Joseph Pirzada and John M Heath.
On speaking to Mr Pirzada he did say this is a package made by the fans for the
fans and items contained in this package are never before seen and many of the
items contained in this package are completely out of the hands of the FTD
version due later in the year. We Elvis fans know what we want and this time you
are going to get it. There is absolutley no point on relying on pen pushers
because at the end of the day, they always let you down. I wont let myself down,
I know what I want as a fan. The main significance on the FTD release is 1955. I
want to make the best Sun package that can be had which is why we are going into
every detail to cover the 53-54 era. On having spent 6 months last year in the
mid -south in the USA on research I am going to set the story straight. Every
past book I have seen have just got it wrong. The 1955 era will have to go on
volume 2 which will be out January 2006. Making both volumes the ultimate Sun
collection. That will have more unreleased tracks and will have a pressing from
Sam Phillips original Master plate 'Mystery Train'.
The price for the item apparently will be made very affordable! Its also
understood that these releases will be made available in shops of HMV and Virgin
in the UK.
With all the rare items 'Memphis Recording Service' have secured, it appears
they will not be on the FTD release.

FTD has to change their release schedule for their releases.
There are several reasons for this, but the most important one is the time
factor. The pressure to deliver higher quality and a substantial number of
releases, is more than they can handle within the time constraints. By sticking
to four release dates only, a good portion of the time consuming non creative
work will be limited.
They return to a policy of 4 release dates per year: January, April, July and
October. They aim to have the product ready for release around the first of each
of these months. They will release the regular digipack releases each quarter
and in most cases there will be extra releases coming out at the same time:
"Classic Albums", books or other projects.
The new release dates are as follows:
April 1st:
The Live In Las Vegas 1975 Soundboard - no title yet
Rockin' Across Texas - Stanley Oberst's book with 2 soundboards
Elvis Is Back - 2 CD Classic album
July 1st:
A yet to be determined regular release
Today - 2 CD Classic album
FTD is also working on many other projects. The SUN book/CD project is in the
final stages of research. Several classic albums are in the works including
Clambake, Something For Everybody, and Raised On Rock.
source: Elvis News - updated on January 26th, 2005
Here are a few small updates on future Follow That Dream releases. Ernst Jorgensens " Sun-project " will probably be released at the end of this year. The album " Raised On Rock " is listed high on the " updated albums " list, but no release date has been planned yet. IF Elvis' last show from Indianapolis is to be released on the Follow That Dream label an opportunity could be October, but as Ernst put it "I doubt it".
Other future projects for the FTD label are the updated albums of '' Something For Everybody '', '' Pot Luck '' and '' Promised Land ''. After the release of the April 1st, 2005 soundboard from a March '75 show there won't be any soundboard releases for at least 6 months.

In addition to its regular quarterly releases of collectors’
material, Follow That Dream Records regularly reissues Elvis movie soundtrack
albums and classic Elvis albums that are no longer part of the mainstream Sony/BMG
(RCA Records label) catalog. Next in their series of “classic album”
reissues are the 1960 album Elvis Is Back! (Release Date: March 1, 2005)
and the 1975 album Today (Release Date: April 1, 2005).
FTD Records will release a 2-CD version of Elvis is Back! in the
customary 7” format. There is a very limited number of previously unreleased
outtakes on the studio albums, hence the 2CD solution – combining all
previously released versions – masters and outtakes.
Today will receive the same treatment. Since many of the studio albums
have been deleted by SONY/BMG, it’s FTD’s mission to make sure that the
material is still available, in order to keep Elvis’s recorded legacy intact.
Following are the track listings for both albums:
