King Creole - The Music

 

KING CREOLE-THE MUSIC is a 200-page book with images exclusively designed to complement the music from the film. It consists of two main sections; the recording sessions on January 16, 1958 and song scenes from the filming of the movie (including behind-the scenes shots). The images are classic and well-known shots with the majority being previous unpublished and taken by the original still photographers on the set (no freeze-frames) .The accompanying CD consist of  the masters and the well-known alternative masters (no unreleased session reels have been found). As always, the music has been re-mastered.

On September 14, FTD will release the soundboard of the November 10, 1971 BOSTON GARDEN Show (previously released on bootleg) as this is the only available show from the early tours of the seventies. We believe that this is of such historical importance, that it should be available to everyone. This will be a 5” digi-pack with a photo booklet

On the same date, a 2-CD set of ELVIS (FOOL) in the CLASSIC ALBUM series.. This will feature  a 7” digi-pack with an 8-page booklet.

Please be advised that on June 21st, FTD will be releasing a deluxe edition of Elvis’ GRAMMY AWARD winning album HOW GREAT THOU ART. HOW GREAT THOU ART is a 2-DISC SET in the CLASSIC ALBUM series. Originally released in 1967, it was Elvis' second Gospel album. The original album featured a collection of thirteen sacred songs including the hit single “CRYING IN THE CHAPEL”. In addition to the masters, it features many great outtakes. The 7” inch digi-pack format features a 12-page booklet with great photographs and RARE memorabilia.

A Minnesota Moment

 

"A Minnesota Moment will be released on February 15, 2010. It features Elvis’ live performance on October 17, 1976 at Metropolitan Sports Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bonus songs are from Dayton and Sioux Falls on the same tour. This release continues FTD’s ambition to make shows available from as many of Elvis’ tours as we possibly can. During the first 6 months of 2010, FTD will aim to release every 6 weeks, commencing with the February 15 release.

There will be further announcements by the end of January, but it has been decided that the April 1 release will be a “Classic album” 2 CD set.

FTD Update : Good Times

GOOD TIMES is a 2-disc set in the classic album series. Originally released in 1974, this great album features the legendary “ Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues ”, “ My Boy ” and “ I’ve Got A Thing About You Baby ”. Elvis Presley: 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977

Sony Music Entertainment will celebrate the 75th anniversary of The King's birthday in style with the release of Elvis Presley: 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977 in Australia on January 8, 2010.

This double CD set is the first ever Elvis Presley Australian hits compilation. Together with the 50 hit songs, an 18 page booklet containing specially written liner notes and images of original RCA releases, and CD label art inspired by his first album release, the set provides a unique insight into Elvis Presley's popularity in Australia, a country where he managed an incredible twenty-year streak of placing hits on the singles charts.

Expect such hits as 'Heartbreak Hotel', his first Top Ten hit which peaked at #3 in July 1956. Others include 'Jailhouse Rock' (November 1957), 'Can't Help Falling In Love' (December 1961), 'In the Ghetto' (July 1969) and 'Suspicious Minds' (October 1969). Although Elvis never travelled to Australia, it was, and remains, one of his most successful territories outside of the United States. He is ranked #1 Solo Male Artist in this territory with the most #1s (1956 to 2009) with 14 #1 singles in this period. He also has the record for the number of years between his first #1 single and his last one - the first was in May 1959 with 'A Fool Such As I', the last in June 2002 with 'A Little Less Conversation'. Elvis : Rockin' Across Texas

Rockin’ Across Texas will be released in October as a 2-CD 5” set. It features Elvis live in Amarillo, Texas at the Civic Center, June 19, 1974 and Fort Worth, Texas at the Tarrant County Convention Center, Recorded July 3, 1976. This CD only version contains the same content as featured in the acclaimed FTD book that is now deleted.

Elvis : New Haven 76 

Following on from his appearance in Fort Worth, Elvis rocked New Haven, Connecticut on July 30 at the Veterans’ Memorial Coliseum. Featuring photos from Steve Barile’s archives, New Haven ’76 is a 1-CD 5” digipack.  

A credible live version of Return To Sender is featured as a bonus track from Hampton Roads Coliseum on August 1, 1976.

FTD Vinyl next release is a limited edition 2-Disc vinyl set of THE JUNGLE ROOM SESSIONS. It contains all of the tracks featured on the CD edition and several added outtakes from other releases. JAILHOUSE ROCK is a 2-disc set in the classic album series. DISC 1 features one disc of masters, alternate masters, movie masters and a few bonus cuts in mono. DISC 2 consists of session takes – all in binaural. The package features the 7” inch digipack format with 12-page booklet.

2. FROM SUNSET TO VEGAS is a 2-disc set in FTD’S 5 “ digipack format. The main body of the release is the rehearsal recorded at RCA’s studio on Sunset Blvd on August 16, 1974. There is a bonus section on Disc 2 with 10 live recordings from Elvis’ Las Vegas engagement in August/September 1974.

1) GOOD TIMES is a 2-disc set in the classic album series. Originally released in 1974, this great album featured the legendary “Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues”, “My Boy” and “I’ve Got A Thing About You Baby”. In addition to the masters, it will contain many great outtakes from the Stax Sessions of 1973. The package features the 7” inch digipack format with 12-page booklet.  

2) ROCKIN’ ACROSS TEXAS will be released as a 2-CD set without the book that is now deleted. The 2 disc set features Elvis live in Amarillo, Texas at The Civic Center, June 19, 1974 and in Fort Worth, Texas at Tarrant County Convention Center, Recorded July 3, 1976.

Dixieland Delight

On May 18, FTD will be releasing a 2-CD set called DIXIELAND DELIGHT. Featuring concert performances from May 31, 1975 and June 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama, it’s released in cooperation with the forthcoming multimedia box set release by Bud Glass and Praytome Publishing. 

Elvis was truly inspired by the superb reaction he received in Huntsville, selling out five shows. It’s the only time in his career that he did so many consecutive performances in one City.

On March 23, 2009 the Follow That Dream Collector's label will release a 2CD version of the "Standing Room Only" album. From the press release: "as you know the album was never officially released and it's possible that the version we create was never meant to be, but it's the best way we can present the Las Vegas masters from February of 1972 and the masters and out-takes from the March 1972 sessions at RCA".

The album will also be released on vinyl, it should be released with the FTD April title.

The label is also planning two more CDs for the first half of 2009; scheduled for release mid-April and mid-May.

Unfortunately it has been necessary to postpone the classic album release of “IN PERSON”. This is due to an overwhelming workload at Sony. The album will now come out approx. December 1st, together with a soundboard from February 1973 at The Las Vegas Hilton. If possible, we will try to ship these two titles at the end of November. 68 Comeback Special Deluxe Boxset Out Now

The '68 Comeback Special Boxsets are rolling out of the factory and have arrived at the SONY/BMG headquarters, at least here in Holland they have. This is what the Boxset looks like and it is looking quite stunning! This release, aimed at the general public, certainly fits nicely next to the Complete '68 Special Dvd Boxset. There is a very nice and informative booklet included and the overall sound is very good, thanks to Vic Anesini. The audio on the dressingroom rehearsals seems to have improved quite a bit as well! The Boxset is dedicated in memory of Todd Morgan. In Holland, the Boxset will be first released this coming thursday during a special release party where fans will get a very limited 7" vinyl promo single for free when the buy the Boxset.

Sony/BMG USA re-released on April 1st the three Gospel CDs. They all come with bonus tracks and a sticker on the packaging mentions : Original Album with Bonus Tracks - Mastered from the original analog masters for optimum sound quality .

Love, Elvis

Sony/BMG Canada  released on January 29, 2008 the 3 CD set Love, Elvis . The tracks ate mixed and mastered from original source tapes using DSD technology. The set includes a previously/ rare alternate version of '' For The Good Times '' ( take 3 ).

This is interesting to note the sticker on front stating the tracks featured  are '' Official Masters '' while the French translation word for word doesn't make much sense here.
